The tournament hosted by the Lamorinda Petanque Club at their courts in Lafayette, CA, attracted eight women and 20 men from seven different clubs as far away as Portland, OR.

Etienne Rijkheer, organizer of the tournament and a FPUSA board member, said the event was especially notable for the playing erformance of 10-year-old Noah Sonet of the Lamorinda Petanque Club who competed in his first regional
tournament.
"He gave a focused and competitive
performance," Etienne observed. "He was narrowly
beaten in the Consolante by the eventual winner Bee Moua with a score of 12 to
13."
