HOT Open Tournament - Results -

"HOT" is the abbreviation for Heart of Texas Petanque Club in Austin under Club President Arsene Dupin. They just celebrated their Second Annual Open Tournament in which usually Clubs from all over Texas get together to match their skills. Teams From Dallas, San Antonio, Houston and Austin also a Miami/Philly Team showed up due that when Arsene visited Miami at the beginning of the Year and we played Petanque at the Biltmore Hotel, He mentioned to Me about the Tournament and at that Time I wanted to visit and Play in it.

I was impressed by the City of Austin, what a beautiful City with lots of Culture plenty of Restaurants and Night Life even though Arsene wants to keep this a secret so no more People will decide to move in and spoil the Fun.

I visited and Played in every playing area they had available, The French Legation, Pease Park and The most Beautiful of them all in Lakeway Park, with a Lake in the background Picnic tables Barbeque Area and Plenty of space for the Kids to Play and I forgot to mention Two well design Petanque Areas that will make up for four Courts with a large sign with the Rules and several Scoreboards and just about 40 minutes from Downtown.

The Tournament was on Sunday and Players started gathering at The French Legation a little after 8:00AM.
There was a total of 24 Teams participating.

The Tournament of well planed and Run from beginning to end with the Help of everyone in the Club.

The weather was just perfect throughout the Weekend and after all was Said and Done the Final ended just before Dark at around 7:30PM with the win of the favorite local Team of Amine Najha and Arsene Dupin on a close and very exciting Final 13/11.

Last (so far) but not least: Int'l of Chalon sur Saone, France

Possibly one of the toughest summer tournament for which the FPUSA has received an invitation for one or two Triplettes plus Coach; bed and full board provided from friday noon thru sunday noon. More about it there:

Yet, more about it here:
Chalon is about half way between Paris and Marseilles by TGV (Hi speed train) and can be reached from either city in less than 3 hours, a little more by car.
Chalon is amid ... burgundy; well not too far; and if you are a fan of the "Macon" wine (kind of a Chardonnay), this is the place to go and play Pétanque between September 10 thru 12th.

Beware though, this tournament is a qualifier to the "Masters", which makes it accessible to top notch players only, endorsed by the FPUSA Sport Commitee.
Registration as usual with Robert C PIERRE, int'l events coordinator: RCPIERREsq@hotmail.com
